The Wolhuter Tented Safari

Elephant Sanctuary (No children under 8 on the ride)

Duration: 1.5 to 2 hours

Situated in the Illanga Game Reserve, the Elephant Sanctuary is home to elephants rescued from being sent to zoos & circuses overseas and hunting operations, as well as orphaned elephants. Guests have a choice of the Early Morning Brushdown, the Elephant Interaction & Walk and the Interactive Elephant Back Tour which includes the walk and a 30-minute ride in the reserve.

Feed the elephants, touch them, walk hand-in-trunk with them and experience the special relationship the handlers have with their “babies”! The Elephant Sanctuary is committed to elephant conservation and has a long term strategy in place to return all its’ elephants back to the wild wherever possible.

Elephant Whispers

Duration: 45 mins to 2 hours

Situated across the Sabie River from Hippo Hollow, Elephant Whispers allows you to experience the thrill of being close to these magnificent creatures. Witness their intelligence, their compassionate nature and sheer delight of interacting with humans. The interaction programme offers you the opportunity to touch the elephants, exchange trunk greetings and offer them tasty treats.
