Our cottages offer full self-catering or you can pamper yourself at our 60 seat a la carté restaurant which offers breakfast and dinner. The face brick cottages are decorated in the African theme with true home from home comforts with the emphasis on personal service and hospitality. All our cottages offer the creature comforts of home. They come standard with ceiling fans, tea/coffee, linen (fully serviced daily), toiletries, hair driers, shaver plugs, mini bar, braai facilities, fully equipped kitchen, laundry, ironing and television.

Relax in our well established, tranquil garden with a large swimming pool to cool off on those hot days.

The energetic can enjoy bird watching, hiking trails, fishing or horse riding. For the more adventurous we can arrange game drives, hot-air ballooning, microlighting, quad biking and river rafting.

Affording the discerning traveler a tranquil haven away from home, walkways meander past the main lodge through the trees to reveal four exclusive suites as well as a self catering lodge - each under thatch offering a harmonious combination of local craftsmanship and the luxury of modern conveniences.

Our accommodation exudes refinement and supreme comforts such as fully-stocked mini-bars, beverage trays, DSTV, air-conditioning, overhead fans, bathrobes, private decks, fine linen, mosquito nets and king-size beds (or single beds if preferred).

As Blue Jay Lodge is centrally located in Hazyview, Mpumalanga, on the edge of Kruger National Park, an early morning game drive is within easy reach. Phabeni Gate is a mere 10 minute drive away and Kruger Gate a 30 minute drive away. The wonders of the Lowveld Panorama sights such as God’s Window, Blyde River Canyon, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, The Pinnacle and Pilgrims Rest are all within day trip tour distance from this very central location.

For the more adventurous there are a variety of other activities in the area such as abseiling, river rafting, horse-riding, aerial cable rides, kloofing and walking trails, microliting, as well as hot air ballooning. For the avid golfer, there are two excellent golf courses nearby not to mention a variety of restaurants and retail shops within a 10 km radius of Blue Jay Lodge.

The hotel is made up of Casa's, Villa's, Twin and Double Suites and one "Casa Grande". All rooms cater for double occupancies and have bathrooms en-suite.

The Casa's lead out to the gardens, the Villa's have private gardens or terraces, the Suites each have entrance halls, spacious sitting rooms, bathrooms with separate showers and toilets plus private patios which overlook the valley.

The Casa Grande has a large sitting room opening onto a porticoed patio with a Jacuzzi, Sauna and private pool in an enclosed garden. On the upper level is a double bedroom with his and her bathrooms.

Take in the cool violet of the jacaranda, the shocking pink of the tibouchina and the scarlet umbrella of the African flame tree. Wander down to the large secluded heated swimming pool with its comfortable sun beds. Here you can relax and listen to the creaking of the bluegum trees in the forest breeze and breathe in the heady aromas of frangipani, gardenia and buddleia.

In striking contrast to the vivid colours and lush greenery of the garden, the interior of the lodge is warm and inviting. Furnished throughout with antiques, original art and exquisite fabrics, the main house is a most relaxing place to read a book or to browse through one of the many current magazines from all over the world. Daydream on the verandah, or visit the bar to enjoy a drink or a special cocktail before sampling the lodge's legendary cuisine.
